From the President

The season is well underway. Nippers is in full swing, it’s great to see new Bronzies on the beach, but what has impressed me the most about the last week is the commitment of our age managers, uniform shop, sausage sizzle helpers, water safety and more... without you the nippers program would not exist - on behalf of the board, a big thank you.

The club has a real hum about it, but with the high use comes mess, rubbish and sand, so what...! We are having fun, we are keeping the beach safe and the club is being utilised for what it was designed for, servicing the needs of our members.

The bar has been a great success, both for members and for the public.

You will see me roaming the beach during nippers or the club house throughout the season, please feel welcome to come up and say g’day.

Keep sand between your toes.

Past and Present Patrollers Function

Past members and club legends Luke Foster and Nick Leman are organising the upcoming Past and Present Patrollers function. This is a great opportunity to enjoy a catch up with your fellow patrollers and meet some past members of the club. Spread the word to past and present patrollers! See below for all the details of the night and how to RSVP.

We hope you are enjoying the summer and are just as excited as we are for the ISLSC Inaugural Past and Present Patrollers Night. This will be a very informal evening where we can catch up and mingle with both old friends and new whilst celebrating our great achievements as a club from the last 21 years.

On the night we will be having a BBQ and we ask for a small donation to cover costs. However, we have decided to send all profits to the bushfire relief efforts across VIC & NSW as there are many people doing it extremely tough out there. Drinks will also be available at bar prices.

To enable us to cater appropriately, we kindly ask if you could take the time to complete the quick RSVP link below:

Lucy Tate

Lucy is into her second year now as First Aid officer and so far has been managing to keep everything in order and well organised which is no easy feat. She has been a trainer on Bronze Camp along with being the head trainer for SRC. Lucy is one of the YIPs coordinators along with Kirsten Thomas and has also stepped up to the role of Patrol Captain for Patrol 4. She even has managed to get her licence over the Christmas period so no longer will have to catch the bus to Inverloch!!

Congratulations to both Lucy and David along with the other nominations!

Clubhouse Security

A reminder that the clubhouse is available for all members to use and enjoy. Please be mindful of looking after your belongings, particularly those left out the back to dry. The clubhouse is fitted with security cameras throughout the building. If you take something that doesn’t belong to you, please return it ASAP! We can identify you from security footage!

NYE Tin Rattle - Thank you

Many thanks to Peter Harrison and his team of helpers for the excellent result for the New Year’s Eve tin rattle. It was great to see so many club members in the streets, caravan parks and beach shaking tins and encouraging the public to donate. Just quietly I think the younger members of the club had an unfair advantage, cute factor! The final tally for the tin rattle is an impressive $4290.15, many thanks to all those who participated.

Pink Patrol

Pink_Patrol
On Saturday 25th January we will be holding a Pink Patrol. 2020 marks 40 years since females were permitted to gain their surf Bronze medallion. Pink Patrols have been gaining popularity over the past few years. The mission of a Pink Patrol is as follows “To celebrate the role that females past and present have played in shaping the lifesaving movement and to acknowledge the contribution that our female members have made in helping build operational capacity and provide positive female role models.”
We hope to have as many of our female members join us for a morning of celebration and then spend the afternoon together patrolling the beach. Male champions of change are most welcome to join us.
If you are interested in being on the organising committee for Pink Patrol day, we hope to have representatives from each patrol on board, please let Angela Malan know at [email protected] If you have any questions please speak to Angela or Teagan Thom.
