From the President

Hello All,

The ring of steel has finally come down and metro is finally one with regional. We are going into Summer with a renewed confidence that we are able to travel, and things are certainly looking up.

Allow me to detail a little where we are up to at present with the current state of play.
Our club house is currently up to date with all Covid regulations, we have signage in place, training completed and we have full approval from LSV to start reopening. We are all wondering what the Summer will involve, let me try and detail some activities.

First off there is a Covid Safe QR code scattered throughout the club – each person entering the club MUST scan their phone so they are registered as visiting the site on any given day. Also, there are two Covid Safe Manuals – one at the front door (in the service box) and the other in the new cabinet under the TV – most queries can be answered in these documents.

BRONZE CAMPS: This will go ahead but in a more controlled environment, and there will be no accommodation. Training groups will be limited to 16 per group, and a modified program will be in place. See Tarryn’s comments below regarding Bronze Camp for more information.

NIPPERS: We are have been awaiting advice from LSV on Nippers. This has been a moving target but with the restrictions being lifted there is some light at the end of the tunnel. Of course, this will depend on the availability of Age Managers which at present is down on last year. We all want to see the Nipper program go ahead.

PATROLS: Patrols will be categorised under 3 scenarios.
Scenario A; Patrol to consist of leadership team only
Scenario B: Patrol to consist of PLT and Bronzies
Scenario C: Covid Normal – Patrol to consist of PLT, Bronzies and SRC
All Patrols are to follow strict Covid Safe protocols.

BUNK HOUSE & PATROL LOUNGE: Will be off limits for this season

TRAINING & REQUAL: Will go ahead but in limited numbers. We encourage anyone wanting to renew a qual or gain a new one to look at bay clubs at present and act early as numbers in programs will be limited. Again, further information below from Tarryn.

CLUB ACCESS: Will be severely limited this season. We must have a person responsible for access at all times when the club is open. Patrols will be controlled by the Patrol Captain/or nominee. Training will be controlled by the Head Trainer or nominee. Club house access for the use of boards etc. will be scheduled for access at particular times, with wash down protocols etc. Bar access will be controlled by the acting bar manager on each evening.

BAR: The bar will be open this season but how it will look and under what conditions we wait and see. We will have to work within Covid restrictions and LSV hospitality guidelines, but have no fear your favourite bar staff will be ready to go and eager to serve. We now have the ability to extend hours if we wish.

Your board has been working tirelessly to make this season happen, it frustrates us wanting to do more than we can but we are doing our utmost to keep forging ahead. May I remind everyone to renew your membership when it comes through, the only way the club will survive and grow is if we stick together. Thanks for your patience and ongoing support.

We are getting through this
Keep sand between your toes.

New CCTV Cameras

You will notice a new addition to the club. Three cameras have been mounted on a pole and oversee the beach. Two cameras are focussed on the security of the sand bags, and a third surf-cam that is on rotation from the direction of Freights to the RACV beach. I have had the privilege of logging on to the surf-cam and enjoying the beach at a distance – what a view, and how clear it is. The surf-cam will be linked to our internet site and you will need to be a member with a login to view it. Stay tuned for the launch – thanks Chris Malan for your work, we got there.

Patrol Roster

Below is a link to the first draft of the patrol roster for season 20-21. If you haven’t filled in the patrol survey to be included on the roster please do so at this link.
Any queries regarding the roster please get in touch with Patrol Manager Ella Arnold at [email protected]

Nippers Update

As you might be aware, we are currently planning the Inverloch Nipper program and have included a survey below to assist with this process. When completing the survey keep in mind that this program will look very different to the program we know. It will be shorter, there will unfortunately be no Nipper BBQ or Cupcakes and Social events will be restricted.

We will be asking parents to step up and assist with other roles within the program. Without parents filling these roles the nipper program will not proceed. In particular we are looking for Age Managers, Beach Setup and Pack-up Coordinators, Beach Safety Coordinator and Water Safety Coordinators. All roles will come with the appropriate training.

We are also seeking someone who is willing to take on the role as the Nipper COVID Safe Coordinator. This role comes with appropriate training and a position description.

If anyone is willing to assist with any of the above roles could you please get in contact with Teagan or Lucy ASAP. Lucy [email protected] 0431 462 887 / Teagan [email protected] 0431 978 212

LATEST UPDATE – The Nipper program will be run in a shortened version from Monday 4th January to Friday 8th inclusive. A preliminary swim day will be held on Wednesday 30th December. A “Back to Nippers” carnival day will be held on the March Labour Day weekend.

Unfortunately, due to the restrictive conditions placed on running mass sporting events such as Nippers we will not be running under 6’s, 7’s and U14’s this season. Preference will be given to financial members from season 19-20.
Nipper program applications will not be opened until we know numbers of available Age Managers and other support roles as Nipper numbers are dependent on these roles. Please reply to the survey ASAP if you can help out, the survey will close on Sunday 22 November to allow planning for the program to be finalised.

Training Update

The Training Committee has been planning training courses for the upcoming season which will delivered in accordance with LSV’s and the Club’s COVID safe plan.

Currently there is a limit of 16 candidates for new courses and 25 members for each skills maintenance session. Please be patient with us as we do our best to accommodate as many members as possible to participate in training courses this season.

Skills Maintenance

Each season members are required to attend a skills maintenance session to requalify their awards for the following season. This season members are required to enrol in the 2-hour skills maintenance session prior to attending for skills maintenance. We will not be accepting walk ins on the day for members who haven’t enrolled to attend due to our COVID-19 restrictions.

Please watch this short video for details on skills maintenance for the upcoming season.
Please allow 60mins to complete your SRC/Bronze Theory for Skills Maintenance as there are a number of changes this year. You must complete your online theory for all awards you are re-qualifying and will need to provide evidence you have completed your online learning prior to the day.
Complete your online learning and book into a session via the following website:
The current dates for skills maintenance are:
Saturday 28th November at 9am, 11:30am, 2pm

Saturday 5th December at 10am

Gear Inspection

A big thank you to Club Captain Rhys and his team from the Life Saving Operations Committee (LSOC) who worked tirelessly before the day and on the day to prepare the club patrol gear for the annual gear inspection on Saturday 14th November. As you can see from the photos the patrol equipment, first aid room, IRB’s and vehicles are ready for another season of patrolling.

Clothing/Uniform Manager

This role would suit one or two people, previous experience in a uniform shop or clothing store would be advantageous but not essential. What you will need is good organisation skills and be people friendly.
You will also need to be “on deck” throughout the Nipper Program and specified weekends from December to Easter to oversee sales of Patrol Uniform and Club Apparel.
Working closely with the Treasurer and past incumbents, guidance will be on hand if needed.

A position description is available and the Treasurer is happy to have discussions with interested parties. Please contact Rob O’Neill on 0418 510 012 or at
[email protected]

Membership Renewals

We are currently implementing a new memberships system which will make managing your membership easier than it has been in the past and hopefully reduce our workload.

Membership applications for existing Active Patrolling members and Families which have an Active Patroller are open. You should have received a welcome email from Hello Club to renew your membership. If you fall into this category and have not received a welcome email, please contact us via [email protected] with “Active Member” in the subject line and we will resend it.

Membership renewals for non patrolling members will be open shortly. You will receive a welcome email when your membership is open for renewal.
New membership applications will be opened mid November via a link on this page.

PLEASE NOTE: Nipper, Bronze camp and SRC applications will not be part of the membership renewal/application process. These will be done separately (refer above). You must however be a current financial member (Family member in the case of Nippers) to be eligible for these programs.

If you are interested in being notified about a specific program, complete the form here: Membership Interest Form
