Letter From the President

Hello All,

Welcome to the new season and although we find ourselves in lockdown we seem to be in a more positive position than we were last year. I hope you are looking after each other in lock down, checking in with each other and asking “ARE YOU OK?". Mental Health is so important as we face the challenges that the pandemic throws at us all. Reach out if you do need support or if you can assist someone - be proactive get in touch with people. LSV have some great support - https://lsv.com.au/healthalerts/ or talk to a friend, family member or a board member is always available.

The new Board was appointed at the AGM on Saturday and we had a record number of people attend – be it virtual. I welcome back returning Board members and congratulate and welcome new Board members in Nick Perera as Club Captain and Jono Li as Chief Instructor to their positions as Rhys Bartlett and Tarryn Thom go with our thanks – we will catch up to thank them in person when we get over this latest lockdown.

An update on projects around the club, although the club is closed due to works we continue to get ready for the new season and keep moving forward:
  • The Club fascia was painted
  • The rekeying of the club is complete
  • New CCTV cameras fitted
  • A new FOB system is now in place – stay tuned for ways to replace your FOB, either with a waterproof wrist band or a key chain fob
  • Upgraded wifi with better coverage
  • Windows have been replaced in the club we are finally rid of the unsightly peeling ones
  • And we are in the midst of replacing the deck
  • New POS system for the bar
  • The BBQ trailer is being given a face lift
On the agenda before the upcoming season:
  • Touch up paint job for the internal walls of the club
  • The undercarriage of the patrol tower to have rust removed and repainted
  • We hope to upgrade the acoustics of the training room with sound deadening
  • And a working bee to return all the gear back under cover once the deck is done and give the club a good clean
With all this we are in a strong financial position with an additional 10K in the bank from where we were last year. As always I am committed to keeping members up to date with what is happening at the club and keeping a clear line of communication from Board to membership.

I am sitting on the Cape to Cape Resilience project which has committed to have recommendations later in the year when we can apply for funding through government channels. I have met with the Mayor, the Local Federal member and Senator Hume. I hope they keep their word on the timing!

Next summer, throws a new set of challenges at us as a Board, but we have done it before and I hope and expect we can open up and restrictions are far less. Our membership is our strength, and the life savers who stand on the beach and the many volunteers who take on the numerous club positions, we are Inverloch Surf Life Saving Club and together we will get through this and will continue to shine.

Keep sand between your toes
