Letter From the President

Hello All,

Another lock down and another chance to entertain ourselves! Stay well, stay connected and hopefully it won’t be too long before we will be out of this one. Summer is just around the corner and we want to be in good shape for the season ahead.

We are currently putting out Expressions of Interest for different positions within the club. So I’ll pinch those immortal words (or close to them) “don’t ask what your club can do for you, but what you can do for your club” 😊 Whether it’s gear steward, patrol manager, nippers co-ordinator, trainer, if everyone does something it eases the load on all of us. Get behind the Board members and support them by volunteering to fill positions. It takes a village to run a village. Please consider what you can do.

On another note I have attached some photos below. Two photos reflecting the before and after shots of the track once the council dropped the sand, and a shot of the sand dumped to reinforce the bags. Erosion has been a real issue over the past couple of weeks but we are on the countdown to the Cape to Cape recommendations. I have also attached shots of the work in progress of the deck, another couple of weeks to go. Stay tuned for the next working bee once this is completed – all hands on deck to get the club back in order.

Keep sand between your toes

From the Club Captain

Hi Everyone,

My name is Nick Perera, and I am honoured to be the Inverloch SLSC Club Captain for the 2021-22 season. I’m excited to lead such an awesome club and hope to bring energy and enthusiasm to my role as Club Captain. I’ve been a member of ISLSC since 2010, starting in nippers, progressing to attain my Bronze and various other qualifications, many of which I achieved representing Inverloch on Bass District’s Development Camp. Inverloch SLSC gives me the opportunity to spend time with good friends that I’ve made through the club while helping members of the public to enjoy themselves safely. My hope is that all members have the opportunity to feel supported in developing their skills, making and strengthening friendships and having fun at Invy Beach.
To kick off the season and to ensure that we continue to make Inverloch a safe and enjoyable beach, I am seeking expressions of interest for the following Lifesaving Operations Committee (LSOC) positions. These roles are a great way to become more involved in the club’s activities and a great opportunity to further develop your own skills.
  • Patrol Manager - Responsible for managing patrol rosters and ensuring that patrols run smoothly.
  • IRB Captain - Responsible for managing all IRBs and motors.
  • First Aid Officer - Responsible for all first aid equipment and the first aid room.
  • Gear Steward - Responsible for ensuring all club equipment is looked after over the season and is ready for our upcoming gear inspection.
  • Board and Ski Captain - Responsible for all the clubs boards and ski's.
  • Radio Officer - Responsible for maintenance of club radios
If you are interested in taking on one of these positions or would like to know more about them, don’t hesitate to contact me by phone (0407 714 302) or email at [email protected]

You are most likely to find me in the Inflatable Rescue Boat during the season – come and say g’day!
