Inverloch Surf Lifesaving Club’s Bronze Camp is usually held in the 1st,2nd or 3rd week of December each season.
We aim to hold the 2021 camp from the 12th to the 18th of December.
Assuming that COVID-19 allows, the camp will be held at the ISLSC clubhouse. Participants will have accommodation and all meals provided by some of our lovely club volunteers.
To be eligible to participate you must be 15 years of age or older by the start of the camp and be able to swim 400 metres in a pool without stopping in less than 9 minutes.
This camp presents as a great opportunity to learn new skills, develop new friendships and get fit!
You will be trained in water rescues, emergency response, first aid and resuscitation. We aim to provide candidates with the knowledge required through scenarios, theory and practical work.
The camp leaders are qualified training officers from within the club and will live with the candidates and supervise for the duration of the camp.
On Saturday morning the assessment will be held at the Inverloch Surf Beach and all parents are welcome to come along and spectate as they go through the examination (if COVID allows).
The exam will test all the theoretical knowledge they have learnt over the week:
- First Aid
- Patient Carries
- Patient Assessments
- Radio Communications
- Rescue Techniques (Board & Tube)
- Surf Awareness
On successful completion, you will be awarded the Bronze Medallion and will be able to join a beach patrol team. Presentation of uniforms is held after the assessment.
