AFTER SCHOOL NIPPERS PROGRAM

About After School Nippers

Inverloch SLSC is excited to be running our After School Nippers program this Term 4!

This mid-week program is perfect for families looking to stay active and connected outside of the traditional summer season.

The Nippers program is designed to give children a fun and engaging introduction to lifesaving outside of the busy summer period. Unlike our traditional Summer Nippers program, which runs over the Christmas/New year break and includes a larger number of participants, After School Nippers is a smaller, mid-week program that focuses on building surf safety awareness, confidence in the water, and teamwork in a relaxed environment. With smaller group sizes and paired age groups, children benefit from more personal attention and a supportive atmosphere.

The program runs for seven weeks during Term 4, with each session finishing with an optional family BBQ to encourage community connection and friendships both on and off the beach. It’s a great way for families who may be unavailable during summer, or who simply want an extra opportunity for their children to stay active and connected, to experience all that Nippers has to offer.

Parent/Guardian Involvement

Parent and guardian involvement is an essential part of the Nippers program. For safety reasons, all parents are required to remain on the beach during the sessions. We also encourage parents to get involved by helping with roles such as water safety, activity support, or the BBQ roster. You don’t need to have a background in lifesaving to contribute, every extra set of hands helps create a safe, fun, and welcoming environment for the children. Parent involvement not only ensures smooth running of the program but also helps build the strong, supportive community that Inverloch SLSC is known for.

Water Safety and Volunteer Sign Up

We rely on the support of our amazing parents and members to help this program run safely and smoothly. If you’re able to assist with water safety, age manager or as a general volunteer, please sign up using the link below. Every extra pair of hands makes a huge difference to the experience for our Nippers. Ideally every parent/guardian assigns themselves to a few roles throughout the program.

If you would like to become a water safety and help out with After School Nippers, we have a new opportunity to gain your Surf Rescue Certificate. This course teaches valuable lifesaving and rescue techniques and is a minimum requirement to water safety.

Course dates:
In person sessions: Saturday 10th & Sunday 11th October.
Online theory session: Wednesday 7th October 6:00pm.
