From The Editor
Hi everyone,
Flags go up on Saturday 21 November, and I can’t believe we’re there already.
This edition is a big one for getting season ready. Book your skills maintenance, fill out the patrol survey and get yourself on Team App, because that’s where all patrol comms will live this season. The new live patrol roster from the Ops team also makes finding your upcoming patrols easy as. There’s plenty to be excited about too, from the new Youth Salties trial to 17 new bronzies from Kew High joining the club.
Thanks to everyone already putting in the work behind the scenes. See you on the beach soon.
Xavier Korbel
Director of Member Engagement
P.S. A quick one for you: what do you call a lifesaver who hasn’t requalled by 31 December? Find the answer in the Training section.
Annual Skills Maintenance
A reminder to sign up to a skills maintenance in person session and complete your online theory!
Every lifesaving qualification (award) expires on 31 December. If you have not ‘requalled’ by then, your qualifications are not valid, and you cannot patrol, water safety or compete until you have completed a skills maintenance session. Pick a session that works for you and come down with your mates.
Four sessions are running:
- Saturday 14 November, 9am to 12pm
- Saturday 28 November, 9am to 12pm
- Saturday 5 December, 9am to 12pm
- Sunday 27 December, 9am to 2pm
Sign up through the LSV Member Training Portal and complete the online learning before your practical session. You cannot be signed off on the day without it.
Make sure you bring wet and dry gear, including goggles if you would like them for the swim component. A pink or other high visibility vest is great if you have it.

If you have any issues with signing up to a skills maintenance or in completing online learning please contact Finley at chiefinstructor@islsc.org.au

Patrol Roster is Live
The roster is out and the countdown to flags up is on.

Patrol Survey: Choose Your Patrol Group
If you haven’t filled this out yet, now’s the time. It takes a couple of minutes and it’s what allows us to place you in the patrol team you want to be in, and plan properly for the months ahead.
Operations Update
Team App is our one place for patrol comms
It hasn’t always been clear where patrol information lives, so this season we’re keeping it simple.
Rosters, events, changes, reminders and RSVPs will all land there.
To keep our younger members safe, direct patrol communication won’t happen through WhatsApp or other social media. The club socials will still share news and photos, but anything you need to act on for patrol will be in Team App.
- Download Team App and join Inverloch SLSC
- Switch your notifications on
- Check it before every patrol weekend
Annual LSV Gear Inspection
Sunday 15 November @ Inverloch SLSC
A quick update since last edition. LSV’s inspection will now run a little later in the day, and we’ll use the earlier part of the day as a mini working bee to get the garage, gear and IRBs inspection ready.
Many hands make this a short job, and it’s a great way to learn where everything lives before the season starts. Lunch is provided for everyone who helps.
If you can lend a hand, please email our Gear Stewards, Jake and Morrie, at gearsteward@islsc.org.au so they can plan the jobs and the lunch order.

Thank You, LSOC
A big thank you to everyone on the Lifesaving Operations Committee who continually donate their time and efforts to making this club what it is today.
Much of what you’ll see on the beach this summer starts with them. If you have an idea, a question or something that isn’t working, come and talk to any of us, or email clubcaptain@islsc.org.au.
Training Update
Welcome our newest bronzies!
Last week we were joined by 17 Kew High students and 4 teachers for the annual Kew Bronze Medallion course. Despite horrible weather forecasts, it was amazing to see each student get in the water everyday and learn new lifesaving skills, from tube rescues to lifesaving CPR. Each student gave their all to scenarios and theory sessions, and we are so excited to welcome them as new members of Inverloch SLSC and hope to see them on patrol very soon. It is an honour to work with the amazing teachers of Kew High every year and we look forward to building upon the relationship with the school for many more years to come.
A special shout out to Kyler Booth for doing an amazing job head training throughout the course and planning ahead of time. Thank you to those trainers who attended the school prior to the course to start teaching theory content: Bella Perich, Finley Withers and Kyler Booth. Thank you to the trainers who gave up their time to be there during the course: Jonathan Li, Ava Rose Houben Carter, Joshua Robinson, Milla Laub, Holly Foster, Saskia Cehun, Bella Perich, Kyler Booth, Finley Withers.

Helpers Needed!
We are in need of trainers and water safety to help out on the Inverloch Primary School Program that is fast approaching! It is an amazing opportunity to get involved with your local community and promote surf lifesaving education to our young students.
Dates: Monday November 30th – Thursday December 3rd
Please let us know if you can help out in any capacity by filling out this EOI form: https://forms.gle/NKnNQ62i73iYCVWi6
Don’t forget to requal
Your awards will expire and you will be unable to undertake any activity requiring a Bronze/SRC, like nippers water safety, patrols or competition.
What do you call a lifesaver who hasn’t requalled by 31 December? A beachgoer.
