President’s Message
Hey Team,
As we wrap up the year and look forward to another fantastic summer, I’d like to highlight the incredible work and progress happening across our club.
First, I’m delighted to announce that Tim Robinson and Adrienne Elliott will be serving as our Member Protection Officers (MPOs) for the 2024/25 season. Their role is vital in fostering a safe and supportive environment, and we appreciate their dedication.
Our Nipper program is gearing up for an exciting season. To all parents and carers, please check your emails for essential updates, and remember that your help is invaluable in making the program a success. Whether it’s assisting with water safety, BBQ coordination, or age group management, your involvement makes a difference.
For those with young lifesavers keen to stay active year-round, we’re thrilled to introduce the Off-Peak Nippers Program in Term 1, 2025, in partnership with GippSport. This initiative will provide local children with a chance to develop surf safety skills in a supportive setting outside the busy summer season.
Our Youth and Leadership Development programs, including YIPs and Grommet Gurus, continue to provide fantastic opportunities for skill-building and community engagement. I encourage our young members to explore these initiatives and take full advantage of what they offer.
Lastly, as we approach the holidays, I want to thank each of you for your contributions to our club’s success. From patrollers and program organisers to parents and volunteers, your efforts keep us thriving.
Wishing everyone a safe, happy holiday season filled with joy and connection. I look forward to seeing you on the beach as we kick off another exciting summer.

ISLSC President

The role of a MPO is an important one within the club. Their role is to support members and protect them and the club’s wellbeing, by providing member welfare education and support. Both Tim and Adrienne have undergone training provided by Life Saving Victoria and Sport Integrity Australia.
Tim can be contacted on 0417 524 384 and Adrienne on 0402 034 638.
We thank them very much for their commitment to providing a safe environment for everyone participating in lifesaving activities.
Nippers
Important Nipper Program Information – Please Check Your Emails!
A comprehensive email has been sent to all enrolled parents with essential information about the upcoming Nipper program. We kindly ask that you take a moment to check your inbox (and spam folder, just in case) for all the important details, including event dates, volunteer sign-ups, and key program logistics. It’s vital that you review the contents to ensure you’re fully prepared for a fun and smooth start to the season.
Volunteering – We Need Your Help!
To make Nippers run smoothly, we rely heavily on the support of our parents and carers. There are plenty of ways you can get involved, whether it’s helping out with Age Group Manager roles, BBQ coordination, assisting with social events, or supporting water safety. Each family is asked to sign up for at least two tasks.
Water Safety Volunteers Needed
We’re also on the lookout for more water safety volunteers! Water safety is a critical part of the Nippers program, and the more hands we have in the water, the safer and more enjoyable the experience will be for the kids. You can register to help out by signing up via the link below. Don’t forget to check out the water safety social events:
- 03/01 (Evening): Water Safety Social Night
- 05/01 (Morning): Water Safety Pancake Breakfast

If you know anyone that would be able to do this for us please put them in touch with me. Many thanks, Angela Malan, secretary@islsc.org.au or 0413 904 485.
Membership & Leadership Development Update
YIPS 2024/2024 – Get Involved!
Are you a youth member aged 13 and above? Want to gain points and win awards and prizes for getting involved around the club? Then YIPs is the program for you!!
The Youth Involvement Program (YIPs) is a Life Saving Victoria initiative aimed at keeping young people engaged in all aspects of surf lifesaving. The program consists of three levels (bronze, silver and gold), with each level requiring participants to gain a certain number of patrol hours and points through contributing to their club and the broader surf lifesaving community (plus a community project for gold under the guidance of the YIPs coordinator). Points can be gained across a number of categories including lifesaving, completion and club activities.
Designated YIPs events, including the youth forum and YIPs patrol, are run over the course of the season to provide opportunities for participants to gain points and meet other members participating in the program.
The program is for youth members holding a minimum of SRC. You will have five years to complete the program once enrolled, capped at age 20. Once registered you will receive an introduction email containing key documents and further details on how to log points and complete the program. To sign up for the program, complete the following form:
