President’s Message
Hey Team,

Operations
What an amazing season it’s been so far. Our volunteer patrollers have done a terrific job of ensuring that the beach is patrolled every single weekend, with a high number of new and existing members stepping onto the shoreline. A big thank you to everyone who has attended their patrol as well as stepping up and expanding yourself in other patrols as well. This being said the season is far from over as we continue to operate until mid April. I hope we can maintain these strong and efficient patrols for the rest of the season.
Patrollers Of The Month
Congratulations to the previous Patroller of the Month winners, Isaac Korbel and Mathias Twomey for their efforts across November and December.
A Big Congratulations to Finley Withers who stepped up this month as PC for patrol 2. Finley did an exceptional job mentoring the patrol, providing opportunities for growth and implementing a smooth patrol. Well done Finley.

Nippers
With work and school back in full swing, nippers feels like an absolute lifetime ago now! But I wanted to take a moment to give a big shoutout to each and every person who helped make this year’s nipper season happen. This was my first season helping to organise nippers and I was absolutely blown away by the community of hands that come together to make this program the success that it is!
Firstly, a massive thank you goes out to our sponsors: Ray White, Bass Pools for the wonderful Age Manager deck coats, Carman’s for the new water safety rash vests, Australian Bakels for providing all of the cupcake mixtures, JGF Creative for the Nipper of the Year awards.
Thank you to Lucy Chambers who couldn’t experience the season in person but put in a tremendous amount of effort in organising and administration beforehand. Thank you to Kate Simnett for stepping up into Lucy’s big shoes and being a fabulous Nippers Coordinator, with clipboard in hand, Kate took every new challenge in her stride with a smile and led our wonderful team of Age Managers.
A special thank you to the previous nippers committee members Georgie Kibble and Jason Mann who despite stepping down last year, came back to help out in Lucy’s absence.
Thank you to every single nipper parent who volunteered in a role, whether it was age managing, flipping sausages, making cupcakes, running trivia night’s, photographing, washing water safety tops, helping with beach set up, selling second hand uniforms or shaking tins for donations. Every single contribution is greatly appreciated and makes the whole operation a success.
We also want to congratulate Holly Foster and her team on the success of the first Starfish Nippers cohort! This wonderful addition to our program was seamlessly implemented, and we’re excited to see it continue to grow!
A big round of applause to our amazing water safety team. Without you, this program wouldn’t be possible, and we wouldn’t be able to teach a new generation of lifesavers.
Last but not least, a heartfelt thank you to every parent who donated and supported our fundraising efforts. Your generosity helps us improve and develop our nippers program and purchase new equipment each year.
Thank you all for making this nipper season an incredible success. Let’s keep the spirit alive and make next season even better! Next season dates and enrolments will be announced soon!
Bass Pink Patrol Bunch
We had our Bass Coast Pink Patrol Brunch on Saturday 17th of February at Cape Paterson SLSC. The Pink Patrol initiative aims to acknowledge and celebrate the many contributions women past and present have played in lifesaving. It is hoped the positive role modelling will inspire and empower future generations of women and girls to confidently pursue opportunities in lifesaving and aquatics.
The whole day was fantastic and a huge success! The day started with a wonderful yoga session and a rescue board skills session. The brunch kicked off at 9am with our fabulous guest speakers: Ellie Ryan, Nancy Joseph, Georgie Wettenhall and Emma Conway.
Ellie Ryan is a prominent leader at Woolamai SLSC, has elevated into a valued figure with roles like Patrol Captain, Mentor, and more. Beyond her club, she’s a leader in LSV development camps and lifeguard services, displaying a passion for empowering and mentoring younger women in lifesaving. Georgie Wettenhall is a trailblazer and key figure at Woolamai SLSC. She has not only held vital roles but initiated the Pink Patrol and set historic milestones in competitions. Nancy Joseph is a life member at Fairhaven SLSC, is a change-maker and mentor at both LSV and SLSA, contributing significantly to member development and leadership programs. Emma Conway has had a diverse career spanning from the Navy to the CFA, reaching the rank of Commander. As a single mother, she balances work, study, and family commitments with remarkable dedication. These four incredible women spoke on our panel about a range of topics including leadership, diversity, engaging youth and more!
After the panel, we all enjoyed a beautiful brunch catered by the Cape Paterson SLSC. The Bass Coast Pink Patrol Awards were then awarded! This year Inverloch’s Rising Leader Award was awarded to Holly Foster and Inverloch’s Change Maker Award was awarded to Maureen Ansell.
After brunch everyone headed back to their club’s for patrol. At Inverloch, Claire Banks was our Pink Patrol Patrol Captain! We received a visit from Alice Webb and Ellie Ryan on the jet ski’s spoke to everyone about the jet ski service and took everyone out to demonstrate rescue’s.
Overall the day was fantastic and it was so great to see all 6 Bass Coast club’s coming together to celebrate women in lifesaving!

Training
We had a blast at our annual Inverloch Bronze Camp and Surf Rescue Certificate courses this summer! Loads of keen new patrollers hit the beach, and our Crew and Drivers course saw heaps of patrollers levelling up their skills. Big shoutout to all the trainers, trainee trainers, water safety crew, cooks, assessors, and everyone else who help make these events awesome every year. You are all incredible assets to the club and these camps would not be possible without you.
Upcoming Opportunity: Adult Bronze
If you are over 18 and interested in obtaining your Bronze Medallion then this course is for you! Adult Bronze is designed specifically to enable adults, including parents, full time workers or uni students to obtain their Bronze Medallion. This two weekend course will provide you with the skills and knowledge to patrol if you wish and gain more awards in the future, help out water safetying nippers or even just to expertly supervise your kids while they enjoy the surf and ensure your family are always safe at the beach.
While there are some fitness requirements, they are probably not as intense as you may be imagining. If you have any questions or want more information, please email chiefinstructor@islsc.org.au. If you are keen, please sign up to the event on hello clubs at https://members.islsc.org.au/login.

Call for Officials and Support Persons
Inverloch’s competition teams are looking for members to volunteer as officials. For a team to compete at any LSV events, we must supply officials. This is a great opportunity to get involved indirectly with competition and support other members who are representing Inverloch in state events. Officials are essential for us to continue to compete. If you are interested or have questions please contact me to discuss further.
