President’s Message
Hey Team,
Erosion continues to be a significant issue for our club this month, with ongoing concerns around beach access and the protection of our facilities. However, I’m incredibly proud of the collective effort our members have shown as we navigate these challenges. Our advocacy remains strong, and we will continue to push for urgent action to safeguard our beloved beach and clubhouse.
On a positive note, we are excited to welcome several new members to our subcommittees. Your involvement is invaluable, and we look forward to working together to drive the club forward in the coming months.
The patrol roster for this season has been finalised, so please keep an eye out for your scheduled shifts. As always, I encourage all patrollers to download the Stack Teams App to stay up to date with all patrol-related information. This is a great tool for real-time updates and communication throughout the season.
Lastly, there are some fantastic events and activities lined up for everyone to enjoy, and I hope you find time to get involved. It’s shaping up to be a busy but rewarding season ahead, and I’m confident we will continue to move forward in a positive direction.
I hope you enjoy this month’s newsletter, and as always, stay safe.
Glenn Arnold
ISLSC President

Youth Involvement Program (YIP’s)
Are you a youth member aged 13 and above? Want to gain points and win awards and prizes for getting involved around the club? Then YIPs is the program for you!!
The Youth Involvement Program (YIPs) is a Life Saving Victoria initiative aimed at keeping young people engaged in all aspects of surf lifesaving. The program consists of three levels (bronze, silver and gold), with each level requiring participants to gain a certain number of patrol hours and points through contributing to their club and the broader surf lifesaving community (plus a community project for gold under the guidance of the YIPs coordinator). Points can be gained across a number of categories including lifesaving, completion and club activities.
Designated YIPs events, including the youth forum and YIPs patrol, are run over the course of the season to provide opportunities for participants to gain points and meet other members participating in the program.
The program is for youth members holding a minimum of SRC. You will have five years to complete the program once enrolled, capped at age 20. Once registered you will receive an introduction email containing key documents and further details on how to log points and complete the program. To sign up for the program, complete the following form.
If you have any queries or want to find out more about the program don’t hesitate to contact me at yips@islsc.org.au.
