From The Editor
Hi everyone,
Season preparation is in full swing, and there’s a real buzz around the clubhouse as teams get ready for summer. The 2025/26 patrol roster is live, and planning for the development of our Patrol Leadership Team is well underway. The Lifesaving Operations Committee has been busy finalising allocations, checking gear, and coordinating across patrols to make sure we hit the beach ready to go.
Training has also kicked off strongly with this year’s ILSAR, a standout program once again, bringing together agencies and young leaders for a packed week of learning. Requal dates are now set, so if you haven’t booked your session yet, make it a priority. Trainers and assessors are also gearing up for a busy few months, with opportunities to get involved through requals, Train the Trainer Day, and upcoming courses.
Off-Peak Nippers begins this week, marking the start of another great season for our youngest members. The Membership and Leadership Development team has a number of opportunities open too, from the LSV Youth Symposium later this month to the Bass District Development Camp in January.
A big thank you to everyone contributing behind the scenes- our committees, trainers, patrollers, and members who’ve been quietly putting in hours on planning, maintenance, and coordination. The work happening now sets the tone for the season ahead, and it’s shaping up to be a strong one.

Public Access Defibrillator Installed at Inverloch SLSC
We’re proud to share that a Public Access Defibrillator has now been officially installed at the club, located on the wall to the right of the front door! This life-saving addition means that anyone in the community can access a defib in the event of an emergency, even when the club is unattended.
Please remember to treat this piece of equipment with respect. It’s a vital resource designed to save lives, and we ask everyone to help ensure it remains in perfect working condition should it ever be needed.
With planning well underway and teams already active, we’re set for a strong start to the 2025/26 season.
Training Update
October is shaping up to be a huge month for training, so keep an eye out on all the socials for updates, sign up opportunities and new courses coming up soon!
ILSAR
The Inverloch Leadership Search and Rescue program kicked off the 2025/26 Training Season with a bang! Over the first week of October a group of 16 candidates had the opportunity to interact with various interagency organisations such as Victoria Police, SES and Ambulance Victoria. Candidates were able to learn about how to conduct a search and rescue, both on land and in the water and with external agencies. We were joined by some amazing guest speakers discussing patrol management, lifeguard experience and pathways within surf life saving.
A huge thank you goes out to all the external agencies that attend and imparted their invaluable knowledge to us throughout the week. Thank you to Xavier Korbel and his team for all their hard work in the months leading up to the camp and during the week. This program keeps getting better and better every year, and there is no other like it in the state! Keep your eyes and ears peeled for the next ILSAR as it is sure to be outstanding once again!

Calling All Trainers – Requal Season is Here!
We’re asking all trainers to allocate themselves to at least one requal date this season to help deliver sessions and support members through their updates. When you sign up, you’ll be rostered for the full day and assigned to a station – Bronze, SRC, IRB, or ART, etc, just like previous years, but with a little more structure to make things run smoothly.
This is also a great opportunity for newer or developing trainers to get involved and learn alongside our experienced team. The goal is to have a wide mix of trainers across each date to share the load and keep the energy high throughout the season.
