Hi everyone,
As we kick off the new season, I encourage you to get involved in the many opportunities our club has to offer. Whether it’s patrolling on the beach, stepping up on the Patrol Leadership Team, lending a hand with social events, or helping to run training courses, every contribution makes a difference. Our club thrives when members get involved, and your support will make this season our best yet.
Enjoy this month’s reading. See you around.

President’s Message
Hi Everyone,
As this is our first newsletter post-AGM, I’d like to officially welcome and congratulate our newly elected and returning Board and SLT members. I’m looking forward to what we can achieve together this season.
It’s been full steam ahead since the AGM. Planning is well underway across the Club, and the season is already shaping up to be a busy one. You’ll see in this edition that we’ve got several committee roles still open. If you’re keen to contribute, now’s the time to put your hand up.
Our new online store is live on the website, and Simone is finalising a fresh apparel range in time for summer. Meanwhile, Finley is mapping out the training calendar, with more details coming soon.
We’ll be using the Stack Teams App as our main comms channel this year. It’s not a social platform; rather, it’s a club-only tool we manage directly. Setup is simple, and we’re happy to help. (And yes, please turn your notifications on.) Read on or check out our website for details on how to get started.
Erosion works are due to start shortly, with DEECA extending and repairing the sandbags out front. Some disruption is expected; we’ll keep you updated as things progress.
With school holidays around the corner, Clauda will be opening the kiosk. Swing by and say g’day.
We’re waiting on several grant applications that will support some exciting new projects. Watch this space.
The weather’s turning. Summer’s nearly here.
Stay safe,
Glenn Arnold

Club Communication
We ask all members to ensure they have downloaded and can access Team App, as we continue to reduce our use of social media for club communications. This is particularly relevant for Nippers and Operations communications. If you are yet to join, please see instructions here:
ISLSC Board Update
Welcome Aboard, Chris Tatnall – Our New Director of Clubhouse Management
It’s my pleasure to introduce and warmly welcome Chris Tatnall as the new Director of Clubhouse Management at Inverloch Surf Lifesaving Club. For those who’ve worked alongside him, this appointment will come as no surprise, and for good reason.
Chris has been deeply embedded in our Nippers community for several years, spearheading fundraising initiatives, coordinating volunteers, and bringing both energy and strategy to every effort. His hands-on approach and knack for rallying the team made a marked difference in supporting our youngest members.
In his new role, Chris will:
- Ensure our clubhouse, grounds, and equipment remain safe, compliant, clean, and well maintained.
- Oversee day-to-day upkeep, working closely with volunteers and contractors to keep the club in top shape.
- Support events and commercial activities, handling booking, vendor coordination, and smooth execution.
- Provide regular facility reports to the board, highlighting status, improvements, and potential risks.
- Represent ISLSC in meetings with external stakeholders, including council, regulatory bodies, and community partners.
Chris brings with him not just passion, but significant organisational ability, communication strength, and a quiet confidence that serves both team and club interests. We’re fortunate to add his experience and insight to our leadership team.
Please join me in congratulating Chris on his appointment. Feel free to welcome him directly via email: clubhousemanager@islsc.org.au.
Here’s to a safe, well-kept, and thriving clubhouse under your guidance, Chris.

Membership & Leadership Development Update
Hi everyone, I am excited to be the Membership and Leadership Development Coordinator for the 25/26 season. Over the past few years I have had the privilege of being on both state and national development committees and cannot wait to bring some of this into Inverloch.
This season I am looking forward to working together with everyone at this incredible club to evolve, foster and develop engagement, inclusivity and a clear sense of development throughout the club. Keep an eye out in the coming months for more information around LSV camps and workshops, and I would encourage everyone to give these things a go and get involved!

Join The Club Content & Communications Team
Want to be part of the team that shapes how Inverloch SLSC connects with members and the community? We’re looking for people to join our Content & Communications Team this season! You’ll help create the material seen by both our members and the broader community, working across the newsletter, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and our website. Each of these play a unique but critical role in engagement and messaging.
Along the way, you’ll gain hands-on experience with industry tools like Canva, Notion, and Meta Business Suite, while building skills in media, marketing, communications, writing, and design. The roles are flexible and low-commitment: if you love making content but have no idea how the internet works, that’s fine. If you’d rather edit or schedule posts than design them, that works too.
This is a great way to build skills, boost your CV, and make a tangible impact off the beach. (and put your own touch on the content which is viewed by thousands of people each month).
P.S. You’ll notice our ad below was made in Microsoft Paint… we’re really hoping to move past that stage.
Interested? Contact Xav to chat about how you can get involved at engagement@islsc.org.au.
